Built in 1926 by François André, L'Hermitage is one of the legendary hotels in the Barrière collection. A veritable palace, it quickly attracted the celebrities of "All Paris" of the time, charmed by its peaceful atmosphere and its authentic elegance.

Ambitious, François André did not hesitate to co-finance, in 1937, the London-Deauville-La Baule air link, to bring in British customers who were passionate about golf.

At the foot of L'Hermitage, on the beach, car races bring together the greatest drivers of the 30s… Much more than a house of character, than a "Withdrawn country house", L'Hermitage is therefore an invitation to take your steps in the footsteps of the greats of this world: Winston Churchill, the Agha Khan, Sacha Guitry, Aristote Onassis, Maurice Chevalier…

To renovate this legendary building, only one credo: "The Art of Living as a Legacy". Respect the soul and personality of the hotel while infusing it with a breath of modernity and renewal. At the helm, Chantal Peyrat, decorator and interior designer who has been working with Barrière for several years. Talented and sparkling, Chantal Peyrat remodeled the lobby and reception of Gray d'Albion Cannes, redesigned the Casino Barrière Cassis and completely renovated the Hôtel du Golf Deauville in 2013 as well as the Royal La Baule in 2014. She imagines the spaces with elegance and harmony and offers an atmosphere that is both modern and relaxed, for moments of relaxation in complete serenity.

At L'Hermitage, Chantal Peyrat chose a “cosmopolitan, friendly and elegant” signature to rethink the Lobby, the Les Evens bar, the garden, the Grand Café, the Rooms and Suites and the Diane Barrière Spa.

For Dominique Desseigne, President and CEO of the Barrière group, this new renovation project has a highly symbolic value, “The Hermitage takes on a special dimension. Legend has it that it was with a glance that François André, the founder of the Group, decided to create it in 1923. In July 1926, the hotel imposed itself majestically facing the sea and remains today the one of our most beautiful jewels. 90 years later, we decided to restore this emblematic figure of La Baule to its former splendor revisited. "

Since 2013, Barrière has launched a major renovation program, investing nearly 210 million euros in the Group's hotels and casinos. In turn, the flagship establishments are rejuvenated and transformed. After the Hotels Le Majestic and Le Gray d'Albion Cannes, Le Royal La Baule, L'Hôtel du Golf and Le Normandy Deauville, it is now the turn of L'Hermitage La Baule to transform itself. This closing period marks the culmination of the work carried out in the heart of the hotel in successive phases since 2013, with the renovation or creation of 89 Rooms and 14 Suites, terraces with sea views, corridors, seminar rooms and the Eden Beach restaurant.

With these new renovations, Le Resort Barrière La Baule confirms its status of excellence and offers all its know-how to this legendary destination where elegance and authenticity meet in a soft atmosphere that nothing can disturb. The Hermitage is an address that is passed on from generation to generation, like a family secret. For 4 months, draped under tarpaulins, he will entrust his regulars to the nearby Royal, who will be able to offer them all the French art of living so dear to Barrière.
