Marianne Skarpnord was crowned the 2019 Ladies European Tour Player of the Year, after a superb season that included one victory and nine top-10s in the standings.

The 33-year-old Australian, from Østfold, won the Pacific Bay Resort Australian Ladies Classic - Bonville in 2019 and has nine top-10 finishes in 18 appearances on the Ladies European Tour.

She started the season with a second place finish at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi, and won her second start at the Bonville Golf Resort in New South Wales.

Other top 10s followed in the Lalla Meryem Cup, the Omega Dubai Moonlight Classic, the Reserva de Sotogrande Invitational, the Jabra Ladies Open, the Ladies European Thailand Championship, and then the Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open. Then she finished second at the Hero Indian Women Open and tied for seventh at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España.

She finished tied for 34th place at the Magical Kenyan Ladies Open presented by Safaricom's M-pesa despite inflammation in her left ankle and right index finger.

At the end of year awards ceremony, she said: “I want to thank everyone who voted for me. It's more important to me than you might imagine. "

Skarpnord finished second in the Order of Merit, after rookie Esther Henseleit won the Magical Kenya Ladies Open and she added: “I am very disappointed that I did not win the Order of Merit, but after the season Esther has had, I truly believe it is deserved and worthy of our congratulations. She has a very impressive career, she is a rising star who will have to be reckoned with in the future ”
