Speaking at the official announcement in Madrid, Marc Topiol, CEO of Sotogrande SA, said: “I am happy that we were able to agree to organize an additional event in the annual LET calendar and participate in this adventure, a very nice complement to what is happening in Sotogrande on an ongoing basis. The idea was very simple: we try to be ourselves, like La Reserva de Sotogrande, which is a place for families. I think it's very important for us to support women's sport and women's golf. Sotogrande, the destination and the company I have the privilege of running, was the first in many ways and we are very proud to have created the first female professional event in Sotogrande. I hope it will last a very, very long time. "

The president of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, Gonzaga Escauriaza, commented: “Once again, we are delighted to offer to the headquarters of RFEG, the home of Spanish golf, to present this new tournament of the Ladies European Tour, La Reserva de Sotogrande Invitational. Women's golf is a top priority for us and we have to thank Sotogrande for his involvement in this great tournament, the Ladies European Tour, with Mark Lichtenhein and Marta Figueras Dotti in the lead, for making our country the mainstay of the LET calendar, and Deporte & Business for organizing this event. We are sure that it will be a great success and, at the same time, the best showcase for La Reserva, women's golf and Spain. "

Mark Lichtenhein, Director General of the European Women's Tour, said: “We are delighted to welcome the best female golfers in Europe to La Reserva and I would like to thank Marc Topiol and Sotogrande SA for their vision. La Reserva is a unique community and we look forward to showcasing the resort, its state-of-the-art facilities and world-class golf course with live and digital TV coverage in over 150 countries. during the four days of the tournament. "

“Spain's commitment to women's golf is unparalleled in Europe and our players love coming to this very hospitable country, which is quickly becoming a home for them. "

The Reserva de Sotogrande Invitational will be the first of nine European stages on the 2019 Ladies European Tour international calendar, as well as the ninth tournament of the year.
