Friday, October 3, 2014, around fifty managers will meet at the Rochefort-en-Yvelines golf course for a new edition of the Drives de l'Insertion. Organized since 2011 by the CED association, the Integration Drives constitute a unique action of its kind. By offering managers from different companies the opportunity to participate in a sports competition with handball players, this event aims to change the way people look at disability so as to better integrate it into daily life in the company.

Innovative training to raise managers' awareness of disability through sport

20140926_DrivesInsertion_01Created in 2011 by the CED association, the Integration Drives offer employees and managers of businesses an exceptional awareness day on the issue of disability. After a morning of discussions around a “Handicap and performance” round table, employees are then invited to participate in a golf competition with handigolfers. The objective: to break down prejudices and stereotypes, by encouraging companies to develop their disability policy. This year, managers from large companies such as Cofely Ineo GDF Suez and CISCO, will team up with the handigolfers of the Handigolf association.

An innovative and original training to change the eyes of managers on the integration of disability in their teams.

An 18-hole course to better understand the handicap

It is around an 18-hole shot gun that teams, composed of able-bodied golfers and handball players, will compete together to win the trophy for the best team. A mix that proves that disability is in no way an obstacle to mutual aid, team spirit, surpassing oneself, and success.

Sophie Grapin, Communication manager at CED, affirms that “Participating in an event like the Integration Drives really changes our outlook on disability. At the end of the day it is no longer the handicap that we are looking at but the golfer's course. The handicap is forgotten to make way for a great meeting. This experience makes it possible to underline that despite the handicap, it is indeed the skills and the technicality specific to each that make the performance of a team. This observation is made both on the green and in business. »A great way to become aware of all the advantages that people with disabilities can bring to the company.

Through this day, above all based on sports exchange and sharing, CED and its partners wish to take advantage of a common passion, golf, to offer another vision of disability, far from stereotypes and other forms of discrimination.
