The Range Rover Velar is installed until April 29 in the heart of Paris. Land Rover brought together personalities and its ambassadors for a VIP evening on Wednesday, April 26 at the Perchoir du BHV Marais. The presentation of the brand's latest model took place in a surprising setting, the Range Rover Velar having been mounted with a crane on the rooftop on the 7th floor of the famous Haussmann building of BHV Marais on Rue de Rivoli.

For the first presentation in France of the Range Rover Velar, Gerry McGovern and Jean-Claude Biver came to present the new member of the Range Rover family and the Zenith El Primero Range Rover Velar Chronograph, specially designed for the launch of the vehicle. The arrival of this new model has been greeted by personalities from all walks of life: Fashion designer Chantal Thomass, architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, designer Anne Asensio, recent Vendée Globe winner Armel le Cléac'h, chef Philippe Etchebest rugby players Dimitri Yachvili, Hugo Bonneval, Damien Chouly and Yannick Nyanga, pilots Anthony Beltoise, Hubert Auriol, dancer Christian Millette, singer Gwendal Marimoutou, director Diego Bunuel, Marc Luini, Executive Director of Land Rover France: "It is with pride that we present this evening the new Range Rover Velar, resolutely design and innovative, this vehicle is located between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport, our French customers have already shown great interest in the new Range Rover Velar which should be a real success ”.

Range Rover Velar as a work of art

During the evening, the works of photographer Gary Bryan were exhibited. Known for his advanced artistic spirit and his vision of “reductionism”, he stages certain details of the Range Rover Velar. The principle of "reductionism" has this virtue of doing less to demonstrate more and this is what Gary Bryan wanted to highlight.

Victoria Wilmotte, young designer, will also work on the artistic aspect of the Range Rover Velar. Ambassador of this new model, it will aim to create a design object inspired by the vehicle. His creation will be presented as part of Paris Design Week in September.

The Range Rover Velar: the genesis of the Range Rover family

Between 1967 and 1969 Land Rover engineers produced 26 prototypes of the Range Rover, called Velar. This appellation, derived from the Latin “velare” which means to veil / cover, is therefore part of the heritage of the Range Rover. The Range Rover Velar marks Land Rover's entry into a new era of design.

Range Rover El Primero Chronograph

In September 2016 Zenith presented the El Primero Range Rover chronograph. In March, Zenith and Land Rover strengthen their partnership by presenting the Range Rover Velar El Primero chronograph by Zenith. It was in 1969 that the Swiss watchmaker released its first chronograph with automatic winding in history, which it called El Primero. In June 1970 the Range Rover was presented. The world of watchmaking and the automobile therefore come together around this creation.

Regarding the association of these two worlds, Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of Zenith and President of the watchmaking division of LVMH, declares: “Cars, motorcycles, watches… It is basically the same ability to go through time and always work. The other day, I was on the Nice side in a vintage car that was over a century old and was traveling at 130 km / h. It is eternal! Watches and cars are the same eternity, the same clientele; they are similar emotions ”

Range Rover Velar everywhere in France in preview before its launch in September

The Range Rover Velar will be marketed in France from September 2017. Before that, the new model of the range is revealed during a national tour from March 20 to July 5. The first people who have expressed their interest can come and discover the car in preview in the dealership of their choice.
