The Ladies European Tour (LET) has extended its partnership with Sky Sports until the end of 2019. The agreement, which takes the partnership into its 20th year, will mean Sky Sports will host the Ladies European Tour in the UK and Ireland for two more years.

The deal will also mean Sky Sports will broadcast the 2019 Solheim Cup from Gleneagles, having broadcast all Solheim Cups since 1996, with worldwide coverage of the event to be produced by European Tour Productions. The game will be very tense as Team Europe hopes to make amends for their 2017 loss to the Americans in Des Moines.

Mark Lichtenhein, president of the Ladies European Tour, said: “We are delighted to continue working with Sky to keep the focus on women's golf for the next few months, particularly for the upcoming Gleneagles Solheim Cup. This announcement highlights their position as the home of women's golf and demonstrates a clear commitment to women in sport. "

Sky already broadcasts all five Women's Golf Majors and the new agreement will add coverage of every LET tournament, either live or through flagship programs. Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open will be the first event to air on Sky Sports under the new deal. Running from July 26-29, the competition is one of the main events of the Tour and spectators can expect a strong British contingent, Charley Hull, Mel Reid, Georgia Hall and Catriona Matthew, Solheim Cup captain.

Jason Wessely, director of Sky Sports Golf, commented: “The depth of women's sport on Sky is stronger than ever and our partnership with the Ladies European Tour enriches it. Last year we saw a huge increase in attendance at women's golf and Sky Sports Golf is committed to showcasing women's sport. Our broadcast schedule is filled with great tournaments and with so many young female golfers coming in and with such fierce competition at the top of the game - hope the public can really get behind women's golf. "

The Solheim Cup is the flagship of European women's golf and VisitScotland, on behalf of the Scottish Government, has declared its ambition to ensure that the next edition of the event, 13-15 September 2019, serves both golf and contribute to a lasting legacy of increased participation. The Ladies European Tour is working to provide additional programming for the event through television and digital distribution.

Aileen Campbell MSP, Scottish Minister for Public Health and Sport, said: “The Solheim Cup 2019 is a great opportunity to inspire more people, especially young people, to get involved in golf and sport in general. landscape. Completion of this agreement means that this prestigious event will be broadcast to as many homes as possible in Scotland and the UK by one of the world's leading broadcasters, which has extensive experience in major sporting events. "

The announcement came during this weekend's GolfSixes event, which sees some of Europe's most talented golfers compete in a field that for the first time includes men's teams, female and mixed. Sky Sports will provide live coverage of the event on Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports Mix (available to all Sky customers).
