The Blue Bay LPGA originally scheduled for March 9-12 on Hainan Island in China has been canceled due to the high risks of Covid-19 still present in the country.

The tournament, with a purse of $2.1 million, was to be the last leg of a three-tournament series in Asia, after ceux en Thailand and Singapore. La LPGA hasn't held a tournament in China since October 2019. The most recent event BLUE BAY LPGA took place in the fall of 2018.

Last November, the LPGA announced a 2023 schedule that included a total prize fund of $101,4 million and 33 official events, including two in China. The second event, the Buick LPGA Shanghai, is still scheduled for October 13-15.
