This year, following the Covid-19 crisis, the organizing committee wanted the 8th edition of the Open Gustave Roussy to be maintained and that the amount collected on this occasion be for the benefit of Gustave Roussy caregivers, particularly experienced during this very special period. For several months now, they have put all their energy and compassion at the service of worried and fragile patients, many of whom have been affected by the coronavirus.

For Caroline Breynaert, President of the Golf de Saint-Cloud "More than ever, it seemed important to us to host the Open Gustave Roussy because this year the funds collected are intended for the nursing staff so mobilized with patients and their families".

Present at this 8th Open Gustave Roussy, Didier Samaran, Director of Human Resources at Gustave Roussy specifies that “Although the first 7 editions benefited projects linked to the patient journey, we were very happy to learn that the committee had decided this year to dedicate the sum collected for the benefit of nursing staff. If the continuous improvement of care and constant therapeutic innovations in favor of the fight against cancer are at the center of our missions, Gustave Roussy, according to the principle of symmetry of attention, has for several years implemented a dynamic policy in promoting the well-being and quality of working life of staff ”.

During the first wave, Gustave Roussy welcomed patients without cancerous pathology at the peak of the epidemic for the first time in its history.

"This exceptional health crisis has forced the Institution to review its organization to deal with the reception of patients with Covid in intensive care while maintaining the care of its patients and surgical emergencies", explains Professor Jean-Charles Soria, Managing Director of Gustave Roussy.

"Strong measures were very quickly deployed to ensure the safety of patients and staff", underlines Stéphane Pardoux, deputy general manager of Gustave Roussy.

The 167 golfers present at the 8th Open Gustave Roussy were able to enjoy the superb courses and infrastructures of the Saint-Cloud golf course during a beautiful autumn day.

Their generosity, combined with that of the partners, enabled the Gustave Roussy Foundation to collect nearly € 50 to improve the daily lives of nursing staff.

Didier Samaran adds “As our first action, we have chosen to devote part of this great sum to financing a massage chair and seated shiatsu sessions for at least a year from October 20. These take place at the very heart of the services, two days a week ”.

Faithful among the faithful, Nelson Monfort once again marvelously animated the award ceremony and the exceptional raffle in the presence of several elected officials and in front of a masked audience while respecting the barrier measures.
