Held at the Royal Greens Golf Club on the Red Sea coast near Jeddah, this high-level women's golf tournament will host its first two world-class events for seven days: the Aramco Saudi Ladies International with a budget of $ 12 million, which runs November 15-500, and the Saudi Ladies Team International, with a budget of $ 000, which runs November 17-19.

Organized in a bio-secure environment, these two tournaments will attract a large number of participants from the best players in the world to the King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).
For the first time in the history of women's golf the players - themselves competing in the Kingdom for the first time - will team up with amateurs in an all-new team and individual format designed especially for the Saudi Ladies Team. International.

This will be the third and fourth professional golf tournaments in Saudi Arabia in less than two years. The country hosted the first Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers in 2019, which Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell won in January 2020.

Back-to-back tournaments in November take women's golf to new territory and will see players compete for what will be the biggest prize of the LET season after the British and Scottish Open.

Alexandra Armas, Managing Director of the Ladies European Tour, said "We are extremely excited to be part of history by hosting the first ever women's professional golf tournament in Saudi Arabia and we are grateful for hosting two tournaments instead of one during this difficult year for golf. "

“We are always looking to develop golf in new markets and to expand our program. We are confident that the Saudi Ladies International and the Saudi Ladies Team International will be a fantastic experience for our players. "

Originally scheduled for March, the Aramco Saudi Ladies International will be the first event on the Ladies European Tour in Saudi Arabia. It will attract more than 100 of the best female players in the world and will be, thanks to an endowment of one million dollars, the third highest paying event for 2020 on the Tour.

The format of the Saudi Ladies Team International will be unveiled in the coming weeks, with this three-day event where professional players will join forces with amateur golfers to share a prize pool of $ 500.

His Excellency Yasir O. Al-Rumayyan, President of the Saudi Golf Federation and organizer of the Golf Saudi tournament, said “As we all know, the first half of this year has been extremely trying for businesses, organizations and nations around the world, and sport has been hit hard. However, we are grateful to PIF and Aramco - who are equally committed to giving top-level golf the platform to continue to flourish, both here in Saudi Arabia and abroad, and never so much. today - which makes us proud to support Saudi Ladies International and Saudi Ladies Team International. "

Amy Boulden of Wales will take part in both events, just after her first LET victory at the Swiss Open this month.

She said: “This type of commitment to women's golf is really a nice surprise especially at this time. It gives the players an extra week to prepare for the competition and allows us to take the game we love to a new country where we can play on a truly amazing golf course with one of the most scenic views we have ever had. you will see on the Tour. "

“Putting your weight in the balance for two events in one week is a truly significant gesture from a country that I know is passionate about the development of golf, and I look forward to playing it. "

These tournaments mark the return of major international sporting events to Saudi Arabia, with the country's “Vision 2030” plan seeking to use world-class live sport as a way to inspire the next generation.

Golf and golf tourism are also seen as high growth markets for the country, which is now home to courses designed by such figures as Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus.

Majed Al Sorour, CEO of Golf Saudi and the Saudi Golf Federation, said: “Our vision is to develop golf throughout the Kingdom, and to make it both accessible and enjoyable for all men, women and children. One of our key initiatives in this regard is to organize tournaments capable of attracting the best female players in the world in order to inspire the next generation of young Saudi Arabians. It is therefore a great honor to take a new step in this direction by hosting the Ladies European Tour in the Kingdom in November for the first Aramco Saudi Ladies International and the Saudi Ladies Team International.
