To celebrate the 67 years of the iconic Land Rover Defender, Land Rover France is organizing a unique event for the occasion on Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 16 p.m., at the Linas-Montlhéry autodrome: the Land Rover - Defender Celebration .

This gathering will bring together a very large number of Defenders, all generations and bodies combined. This event is open to customers who are passionate about the Land Rover brand. Registrations are to be made directly online at: http://www.land-rover-defender-celebration.fr before November 10. Only people traveling to the event by Land Rover (all models included) and pre-registered on the website will be authorized to enter the circuit.

The Land Rover, a vehicle that marked its time

Since April 30, 1948 and its presentation at the Amsterdam Motor Show, the Land Rover has never ceased to inspire enthusiasts across the globe. The “Go anywhere vehicle” marked the spirits by its unique crossing capacities allowing it to reach inaccessible places and its bodywork with such singular lines. First with the Series I in 1948, the Series II in 1958, then the Series III in 1971. In 1979 there were already 1 million vehicles produced. But it is only since 1990 that the Land Rover, is called "Defender".

Defender: Let's celebrate the legend

Production of the Defender will stop at the Solihull plant in England at the end of 2015 after 67 years. To underline the exceptional longevity of this model, some highlights have punctuated this past year. Land Rover's most iconic vehicle was drawn 1km long on the beach where the original design was sketched, at Red Wharf Bay in Anglesey, UK:

A series of three limited editions accompany the final months of production, each celebrating a specific characteristic linked to the history of the Defender: "Adventure", "Heritage" and "Autobiography".

2015 also saw UK production of the two millionth Land Rover Defender. This unique vehicle was assembled with the help of enthusiasts, including adventurer Bear Grylls and former Paris - Dakar driver Hubert Auriol. It will be auctioned on December 16, 2015 at Bonhams in London for the benefit of the IFRC and the Born Free Foundation.

Land Rover -Defender Celebration in Montlhéry

On Saturday, November 21, all lovers of this legendary car are invited to take part in a large gathering on the Linas-Montlhéry autodrome, accompanied by their authentic Land Rover – Defender.

The Linas-Montlhéry circuit is a major automotive hotspot in the Paris region, created in 1924 and with an area of ​​more than 2 hectares. Various activities, reserved for Land Rover-Defenders, are planned during this day:

  • All terrain experiences
  • 3 elegance competitions which will reward the most beautiful vehicle from before 1980, the most beautiful transformation as well as the most authentic restoration.
  • At the end of the day, the time for a surprising surprise will come to celebrate this gathering dedicated to the Land Rover brand.
