This Tuesday, for the third round of the Lalla Aicha Tour School, the English Bronte Law set a new record on the Amelkis Golf Club course: 62 (-10), including nine birdies in a row. A record never reached in all times on the Ladies European Tour.

With a total of 203 (-13) over 54 holes during this 90-hole qualification marathon, Law finished the day ahead of Swedish Linnea Ström, who scored 10 under par to Amelkis in pre-qualifying last week.

The French Manon Gidali is three shots from the head at - 9, 3rd in the provisional classification. She is ahead of Emilie Alonso, author of an excellent 67 (-5) on the Amelkis and now eighth in the leaderboard.

Gidali was satisfied with her 69 at the Palm Golf Ourika and said: “I started well, but I think I'm a little stressed and the putts just don't go in. I finished with a bogey on the 16th hole, which ok I'm pretty happy with my turn. "

Emilie Alonso seems to have found the right fuel, lining up a 69 Monday then a 67 (-5) without boguey in this 3rd round. Here she is in the top 10 (8th), two points ahead of Emma Grechi, less visible than the day before with her 73 (on the Palm Golf Ourika). The young Girondine (only 20 years old) nevertheless remains present at the forefront, in eleventh position at -5 (211). Further on, we find Ines Lescudier (27th at -1) then Emilie Piquot and Agathe Sauzon at +2 (44th).

With 9 consecutive birdies on a round, Law raised the stakes by 2 strokes less than the previous LET record and tied the total number of birdies with 12.

The 23-year-old Stockport player said her record streak included a chip-in seven and tap-ins in holes six and eight.

She said: “I put in a good putt on the first hole so I was happy and then did bogeys on holes 3 and 4. The 3rd was a tough pin and I just missed the green and I didn't didn't have to go up and down, but the 4th irritated me. I wasn't far from the hole and ended up with three putts. From there, everything went very quickly. I made a birdie on the next hole and I started to do a series of approaches to the mat including three tucks which made a difference. I started to see a few putts go in and once you see putts go in you believe the lines you choose are good lines. It was good to feel confident in front of the ball. "

Her new caddy, Scotsman Jeff Brighton, provided significant motivation, she added: “My caddy and I bounced back and said, 'What do I risk if I make three more birdies? Every three birdies in a row, I earn $ 40. So he was making jokes about it and I made three more. Then he said, “Well, if we get to seven, we'll start talking about real money. Then he said, "If you get to nine, we'll start to really talk about money." I said, "How much money are we talking about? He joked with me, which always makes it easier. "

“On the last three holes, he said:“ For every birdies you make, I'll give you € 20. So I birdied two of the last three holes and made some pocket money. I would have won a lot of money in a Skins Game (editor's note: an unofficial event on the PGA circuit which took place every year from 1983 to 2008 and which offered huge prizes per hole). It was good. I was playing good golf and started hitting putts which can make a huge difference. I was happy with the way I played. I played steadily and it's always nice to be able to control your game. ”

“It's the first time we've worked together, but he will work for me next year. One of the reasons I brought him here was to use this competition as a good trial period for next year and get to know each other. "

Another former PING Junior Solheim Cup player, 23-year-old Ström, has her sights set on a place in the 2019 Solheim Cup. She made a third round of 68 at the Palm Golf Ourika.

She said: “Overall I played very stable today. I started well but didn't put a lot of putts at the start, it was a bit frustrating on the first nine holes. I started the back 9 holes tied, then I birdied at hole 10 and three more after that. It was steady and I hit the flag stick at hole number four, it was fun. I can't wait to play the next two days. I was delighted to play Amelkis again because I really like this course, especially after this score last week. "

There is still a lap to play before the field of 115 players is reduced to the first 60 and tied. The final phase will take place on Thursday at the Amelkis golf club, where the positions will determine the categories of participants for the Ladies European Tour 2019.
