While the health situation has long raised fears of a cancellation of the Lacoste Ladies Open de France 2020, the 30th edition of the Ladies European Tour tournament begins this Thursday at the Golf du Médoc Resort, near Bordeaux.

Thanks to the renewed support of all the members of the tournament family - its title partner Lacoste, the major partners Richard Mille and Aviva, the partners Bouygues Construction and DNP, as well as the Fédération Française de Golf and the Ladies European Tour - this are 78 players who will cross swords from Thursday 17 to Saturday 19 September 2020 at the Golf du Médoc, for the 3rd consecutive year.

The only professional golf tournament for the male and female elite to be held in France in 2020, this 30th edition is in itself a small miracle, made possible thanks to the unwavering commitment of all stakeholders, motivated by the desire to support the players of the European Tour, weaned from tournaments, and therefore from income, this year.

Thus, and always in this solidarity dynamic, the prize money of 200 euros will be exceptionally distributed among all the players, including those who will not pass the cut. Also housed and fed on site throughout the week, the golfers of the Lacoste Ladies Open de France benefit from perfect conditions to return to competition.

Make way for the show!

If no player is a big favorite, unlike last year when the American Nelly Korda brilliantly assumed her status, several headliners responded, starting with Céline Herbin, Emily Kristine Pedersen and Joanna Klatten .

The last Habs to win the tournament, in 2015, Céline Herbin approaches this tournament with extra motivation: “As a Frenchwoman, as a former winner… I am always keen to come back and repeat this victory of 2015. I chose to come to France when the same week I had the opportunity to play on the LPGA in Portland (Cambia Portland Classic). I made the choice to stay here in Europe and to give myself a chance to be able to win this tournament like no other for me. "

Céline Herbin will play the first two rounds alongside the Englishwoman Florentyna Parker and the Moroccan Maha Haddioui. This trio will start at 9:29 a.m., Thursday, from tee n ° 1.

The Danish Emily Kristine Pedersen is moving forward in this week of competition with certainties. Currently leading the Race to Costa del Sol, the European ranking, the 24-year-old Scandinavian comes out of a particularly successful August with a 2nd place at the ASI Ladies Scottish Open, followed by an 11th place at the 'AIG Women's Open and a victory at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open. 3rd last week at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open, she is in brilliant form and will therefore be one to watch carefully this week. She will share her game tomorrow, from 9 am at tee n ° 40, with the Belgian Manon de Roey and the French Camille Chevalier.

Joanna Klatten, 3rd in the 2019 edition of the tournament, will play her part with the Italian Diana Luna and the French amateur Agathe Laisne. They will be found at the start of hole 1 at 11:07 am.

Finally, it should be noted that 17 French women will take the start of their national open, and that the rest of the field of players includes representatives from 20 different countries.

As a reminder, 78 players will play the tournament. The cut after the first two laps will retain the first 36 for the last lap on Saturday.
