Each year, the best French players meet for the French Ladies Championship consisting of the Gaveau Cup (Stroke-Play) then the Pierre Deschamps Cup (Match-Play). It was Marine Griffaut, the player from Cannes-Mougins who won the event in Stroke-Play then Chloé Salort, from La Boulie who emerged victorious in the Match-Plays. Throwback to this week at the Granville golf course.

The French Ladies Championships bring together the best French players each year for an event mixing Stroke-Play and Match-Play. The players first play two rounds in Stroke-Play, the Gaveau Cup, qualifying the first 32 players for the continuation of the competition in Match-Play: the Pierre Deschamps Cup.

A player stood out during these two rounds on the golf course of Granville, Marine Griffaut, the only player to play two rounds under 70. Winner last year of the Montauban Ladies Open, Griffaut signs a card of 69 (-3) the first day to take the lead of the event, co-leader with Anna Pillard. She will no longer drop trial controls with a 67 (-5) card on day two, the best card of the week. She won with two strokes ahead of Gala Dumez and Sara Brentcheneff.

Match-play of the Pierre Deschamps Cup

After winning her first two match-plays, against Manon Guille in the Round of 3, then Marion Ricordeau (former Pro player), Marine Griffaut finally lost 2&XNUMX in the quarter-final against Lucie Charbonnier. Ninth after the Stroke-Play, the player from Mionnay will go to the final of the Deschamps Cup.

Her opponent in the final was a player from La Boulie, Chloé Salort. 14th after the Stroke-Plays, she won the Gaveau Gala Dumez runner-up in the semi-finals, before dominating the last stage of the tournament: victory 9&8 against Lucie Charbonnier. Winner of the Golfer's with La Boulie two weeks ago, Chloé Salort this time adds the title of individual French champion and lifts the Pierre Deschamps Cup.

A look back at this week with Marine Griffaut

In what state of mind did you arrive at Granville?

I arrived at the French Championships with the aim of winning! I joined the management of the French team two days before the tournament started to check in with them, see them, discuss the European Championships, do reconnaissance.
I felt comfortable as soon as I arrived, but inevitably a little nervous because the selection for the European championships was going to be done after this tournament: I knew that if I wanted to play, I had no other choice. than to make a result!

To be in my game and not the result, I really tried to be as focused as possible on my routines and my processes, elements that I could control! Above all, I had fun, I haven't played in France for two years now… and my parents were there to see me play, which is rare!

So you won the Gaveau, how did you get into your Match-plays?

After the victory, I wanted to stay rather calm because another tournament was starting: the Match-plays for the title! I produced a solid game but in my last game, in the quarter, the putting was not there… which made me lose.

Conclusion on this week, a successful tournament?

I keep this tournament as a good performance, especially since I had to produce one! Now, knowing the selection of the European Championships and being in the team, I have validated one of my objectives for this year!
I can't wait to live this experience and I can't wait to perform as well as possible for the French team!
