After 12 weeks of interruption due to the pandemic which forced golf courses to close their doors, the Beachcomber Golf Cup, intended for amateurs, is setting out for a third edition in around thirty clubs throughout France.

Taking up its famous unique and innovative format, in 6-hole match play, the Beachcomber Golf Cup is evolving this year by accepting all doubles: mixed of course but also female and male, to allow everyone to participate and try their luck.

The aim is to offer clubs that have joined the concept the greatest freedom of organization. Some are setting up a knockout competition, where the pairs will compete this summer to qualify for the final. Others opt for a group model of 4 teams, which guarantees them to offer a minimum of 3 matches of 6 holes to each duo and allows to start the competition by bringing together all the competitors on the same day.

Antoine Robin, co-founder of come # together, the organizing company, justifies these choices: “One of the main obstacles to the practice of amateur golf is the lack of time. The 6-hole format allows you to play quickly at the end of the day or to chain several matches in the same day. Team match play is also a much more fun and stimulating way to play the sport. "

Usually launched in April, qualifying has been extended until the end of September to allow clubs to organize matches calmly despite the upheaval in their schedule.

Three highlights

The Beachcomber Golf Cup, en route to Mauritius still takes place in three phases:

  • From June to September = a regional qualification in around thirty clubs, spread throughout France to open up to the greatest number of licensees.
  • October 12 = a final on the prestigious Saint-Germain course (78) will bring together the winning teams from the selection organized in their club. The “Champions League” type formula (in groups of 4) creates a dramatic atmosphere on this exceptional day.
  • From November 12 to 15 = A Grand Final in Mauritius for the 4 best teams at the end of the final.

The island of the Indian Ocean is a particularly popular destination for golfers. The Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels group offers 4 golf resorts:

  • Le Trou aux Biches and Le Canonnier in the North, around the Mont Choisy le Golf course
  • Paradise and Dinarobin in the South, around the course of the Paradis Golf Club.

It is within the magnificent Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Resort & Spa and on the course of the very recent golf course of Mont Choisy that the participants in the Grand Final will have the pleasure of making their way to victory. And to complete this exceptional experience, golfers will have the pleasure of sharing their passion with Julien Xanthopoulos. The former professional player and consultant for the Canal + group will be the sponsor of the event and will provide practitioners with his talent and expertise during clinics that are necessarily unforgettable for the participants.

The Beachcomber Golf Cup is also supported by Mont Choisy le Golf, Callaway Golf, Under Armor, Jabra, Le Figaro Golf, Golf Magazine, and Swing-feminin.com.

They said

Rémi Sabarros, Director of Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels / France-Belgium-Luxembourg:

“We are delighted to be associated with this innovative golf event for the 3rd year in a row. It is this same passion for this sport that drives us and we decided to support this dynamic.

It is always a pleasure to welcome the finalists of the Beachcomber Golf Cup every year, at the Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa, a luxury 5-star hotel, which offers the largest choice of restaurants in Mauritius. Benefiting from the best climate of the island, the hotel's beach is the privileged witness of sumptuous sunsets. Mont Choisy Le Golf, the only 18-hole course in the north of the island, is just a few minutes from the hotel. Designed by Peter Matkovich, it was designed for golfers of all levels and has completely integrated into its environment. The finalists benefit from an ideal setting for the end of the competition which always combines sport and conviviality. "

Julien Xanthopoulos, sponsor of the Beachcomber Golf Cup, on his way to Mauritius:

“It is with great pleasure and great pride that I will continue to be the sponsor of the“ Beachcomber Golf Cup, on the way to Mauritius ”. This competition brings together two essential things to enjoy golf: a fun, modern and friendly formula and an exceptional place!
