Ryan French of The Firepit Collective - you know him on Twitter as @ acaseofthegolf1 - was the first to report the altercation and arrest early Monday afternoon.

According to French's report, the brawl arose as a player, Austen Dailey, confronted another player in the squad, Luke Smith, for not helping him hand over the flag or search for potentially lost golf balls. . Smith, a sophomore at the University of Tennessee-Martin, had his dad as a caddy and took offense at Dailey's request for help replacing the flag and searching for the balls.

The tour issued the following statement: “The Korn Ferry Tour is aware of the incident that occurred during today's qualifying in Newton, Kansas. Those involved are not current members of the Korn Ferry Tour. We are in the process of compiling more details and have no further comments at this time. "

The altercation took place after Dailey hit a misplaced shot on the par-7 3th hole. After Luke Smith and his father refused to help find the ball, Dailey approached them and told them that helping to find the misses might speed up the group. The Smiths then started yelling at Dailey about his own game, and as Dailey walked away, Luke Smith allegedly jumped on him and started hitting him. When Fribbs attempted to end the brawl, the Smith's father pulled out a putter to dissuade him.

Another group called the pro shop to come and end the fight. Smith was then taken to the clubhouse and arrested after Dailey decided to press charges.

"It was crazy, I can't believe this happened", Fribbs said after finishing his lap at 79 (+7).
