After a tight final round from start to finish and led until the 72nd hole by Mito Pereira, it was finally Will Zalatoris and Justin Thomas who headed for a playoff at Southern Hills. Throwback to this last day of the PGA Championship in Tulsa.

Starting with a three-stroke lead in the last lap, the Chilean Mito Pereira, despite a few errors and bogeys, was one step ahead at the start of the 18th. This last day of the PGA Championship, windy with firm greens, damaged many cards.

While the leader appeared on the final start, Justin Thomas signed a card of 67 (-3) to take the lead at the clubhouse at -5. Will Zalatoris equalized this mark of -5 a few minutes later with a birdie at 17 then a furious one at 18, thanks to a putt of 2,80 meters.

At the start of the 18th, Mito Pereira unfortunately misses his face-off which ends his race in the water obstacle. After a drop, the Chilean misses the green, too long and needs a chip/putt to grab the playoff. He finally misses this last chance, signs a double bogey and ends his week in 3rd place. Despite this difficult end to the tournament, Pereira signs a good performance, he who was until then 100th in the world: he is now 49th.

Will Zalatoris and Justin Thomas therefore played a playoff on three holes: the par 5 of the 13th, the short par 4 of the 17th then the par 4 of the 18th. The two men both sign the birdie on the par 5.

Justin Thomas having the honor perhaps hits the winning shot with a drive on the green at 17. He signs an easy birdie while his opponent makes the par. Will Zalatoris, to force Justin Thomas to continue the game had to sign a birdie at 18. He misses it and leaves two putts for the former world number 1 to win. The winner of the event in 2017 does not tremble and adds a second PGA Championship to his list. Justin Thomas moves from ninth to fifth in the world.

Rory McIlroy, in the lead after the first lap, finally finished eighth in the event at -2, penalized by a card of 74 (+4) during the moving day.

World number 1 Scottie Scheffler didn't make the cut. Jon Rahm finished far from the leading men in 48th position at +6. Collin Morikawa ranks two strokes behind the Spaniard, 55th at +8.

Tiger Woods, after passing the Cut thanks to a card of 74 (+4) then an excellent 69 (-1), finally decided to withdraw from the tournament after his third round which he played in 79 (+9) . Even if the game seemed present, the leg of the Tiger made him suffer, and from what we could see, more than at the Masters.
