The British Lily May Humphreys wins at the Joburg Ladies Open and unlocks her counter with a first title on the Ladies European Tour. Nastasia Nadaud the best Frenchwoman this week in South Africa, finished 27th overall

Lily May Humphreys, 21, from England, claimed her first victory on the LET (Ladies European Tour) circuit by winning by two strokes in the Joburg Ladies Open.

Humphreys started the final day six shots behind the previous day's leader, Moa Folke, starting this last round very well, by scoring two birdies on his first two holes before conceding a bogey on the third hole. She then birdied several times on holes 5, 8, 13 and 14, putting her level with Folke.

It was with a birdie on the 16th hole that the young Englishwoman took the lead, reaching a final score of 12 under par which proved to be enough to win her first title on the LET.
« I am speechless ", said Humphreys. “I was very nervous playing 18 and I can't believe I managed to win. It's an amazing feeling and I'm so overwhelmed right now »

The player explained that she followed her usual game plan and played just to win the competition. She added that she feels in better shape now and can't wait to see what happens for the rest of the season.

The Spanish Ana Pelaez Trivino, and the Swedish Moa Folke, both finished in second place with a score of 10 under par. Pelaez Trivino had a great final day with a score of 69 (-4), while Folke struggled with a score of 74 (+2).

Three players tied for fourth place: Kiera Floyd of South Africa, Klara Davidson Spilkova of the Czech Republic and Nicole Broch Estrup of Denmark. Nadia van der Westhuizen of South Africa finished alone in seventh place.

A total of 10 players finished under par at the end of the event.

When it comes to the overall standings for the 2023 Race to Costa del Sol season, Aditi Ashok of India is still in first place with 1 points, followed by Maja Stark of Sweden and Lily May Humphreys in second place with 210 dots. Ana Pelaez Trivino is fourth and Manon De Roey from Belgium completes the top 500.

The French unfortunately did not succeed in distinguishing themselves during this tournament. Agathe Sauzon Close behind her at one point, ranking 32nd. Three other French women managed to pass the cut: Emma Grechi, 41st at +3, Anais Meyssonnier, 49th at +5 and Anne-Lise Caudal  59th at +9.
