The choice of the GWAA (Golf Writers Association of America) must have been as easy as a small 30 inch putt. By electing the world No. 1 Jin Young Ko player of the year 2019, our American colleagues have only rewarded an exceptional season. In her second season only on the LPGA Tour, the 24-year-old won four tournaments, including two Majors (the ANA Inspiration and the Evian Championship) and posted twelve top 10. Her 69,052 scoring average of 2019 is the lowest since Annika Sorenstam's historic record (68,697) in 2002. Even stronger, Jin Young Ko lined up 114 holes without the slightest bogey, thus beating Tiger Woods' record by 4 holes.

“It is a great honor for me to win this prestigious award. I am very fist to succeed so many big names in golf ”, said the Seoul native. On the men's side, American Bruce Koepka edged out Rory McIlroy for the 2019 Player of the Year award, with veteran Scott McCarron taking the Senior Player of the Year.
