Originally from Aix-les-Bains, in Savoie, Jean Sulpice comes from a family of restaurateurs, and was passionate about cooking at a very young age. At the age of 16, he began an apprenticeship and in 1998, Marc Veyrat offered him the second place in his restaurant, La Ferme de mon Père, in Megève.

Jean Sulpice continued his training with other chefs before returning to Savoy, where he decided to open his own restaurant in Val Thorens, the highest resort in Europe. With Oxalys, he brought the novelty of gourmet cuisine at high altitude, a success that earned him his first star at age 26, he was then the youngest starred chef. Five years later he hooked the second, what could be more normal, at 2300 meters, closer to the celestial vault.

In 2017, with his wife, he bought the Auberge du Père Bise, in Talloires, on the shores of Lake Annecy, a real institution in French gastronomy, created in 1901 and still run until then by the Bise family. A year after his installation, he regained his 2 Michelin stars and Gault et Millau the crowned Chef of the year 2018.

In March 2020, Jean Sulpice contacted Laurent Petit ***, Yoann Conte **, Stéphane Dattrino * and Florian Favario *, all established around the Lake, offering them an action to support the staff of the hospital in Annecy then hard hit. by the COVID-19 health crisis. A whole chain of solidarity is being put in place, the chefs, supported by the local producers (fishermen, market gardeners, etc.) with whom they usually work, will develop menus, which in turn they have delivered to the staff at the start. April.

At a time when all establishments are closed, chefs wish to continue to promote the products of their territory and thus give a helping hand to their producers. In this difficult phase for all, they call for everyone's solidarity to refocus on more local consumption.

On April 2, Jean Sulpice, the chef of the Auberge du Père Bise delivered the first meal. Contacted by phone, he explains the meaning of this collective approach and reveals his passion for cuisine and local products:
