Jaguar has developed two rally F-TYPE Cabriolets, which echo the styling of the F-TYPE Checkered Flag Limited Edition. They are a continuation of the celebration of the brand's 70-year sporting past, which dates back to 1948 with the release of the XK 120.

These unique F-TYPE rally models also pay homage to the legendary Jaguar XK 120 registered "NUB 120" which, in the early 1950s with Ian Appleyard at the wheel, participated in three consecutive Alpine rallies without a single penalty and won the RAC and the Tulip Rally.

The two F-TYPE convertibles modified for the needs of the rally are equipped with the Jaguar 4-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with 300 hp. Benefiting from transformations supervised by Jaguar Design and Engineering, both cars have been adapted to FIA standards. They are thus equipped with a braking system and undercarriages meeting even more stringent requirements, a roll bar, racing seats with six-point harness, a headlight ramp mounted on the hood and a fire extinguisher.

The opportunity to design a rally car does not present itself very often. So I was excited to give that kind of personality to a modern sports car. These models are a nice tribute to the XK 120 and all the great Jaguar sports cars that followed its presentation 70 years ago, including the F-TYPE Checkered Flag Limited Edition

The rally F-TYPEs have been reworked in terms of the braking system, running gear and mechanics, for example being equipped with grooved discs with four-piston calipers at the front and at the rear. Handcrafted competition shocks and softer springs allow these high potential cars to be able to absorb bumps on demanding rally stages. Three-way adjustable shock absorbers give cars the option of being tuned to suit the surfaces encountered. They are fitted with spherical roller bearings for even better controlled travel. Alongside competition rims and tires specifically designed for track use, they also receive a limited slip differential which improves the transfer of power to the wheels on degraded pavement while a hydraulically operated handbrake allows the driver to better position the car in the bends.

These anniversary versions were put to the test on the Walters Arena rally course in South Wales to prove the extent of their possibilities. They will now participate in a series of Jaguar events to be held in the coming months.

The livery of these rally models incorporates styling elements found on the F-TYPE Checkered Flag Limited Edition. Like them, they benefit from subtle aesthetic changes, the most notable of which are the fitting of specific 20-inch Gloss Black diamond rims and the Contrast Black roof on the Coupé. Inside, the luxurious black Windsor leather interior features sport seats with embossed checkered flag headrests and a center console with dark brushed aluminum finish.
