This week of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship had started with a bang for the Korean already two-time major winner In Gee Chun. She had signed a card of 64 (-8) to take alone control of the tournament with five strokes ahead. In Gee Chun again played under par in the second round in 69 (-3), before seeing their lead melt like snow in the sun over the weekend.

Indeed, despite a solid game overall on Saturday, she returned a card of 75 (+3) during the moving day, the fault of a bogey on the 15th followed by a double bogey on the 16th hole.

She will finally start the last lap with a lead of three strokes. The game could have quickly turned sour with a laborious first leg in +4, four bogeys. She had then abandoned the lead of the tournament in favor of the American Lexi Thompson. This duel finally turned to the advantage of the Korean, playing -1 on the return while Lexi Thompson signed four bogeys for two birdies on her return.

The American had a nightmarish end to the game, the referees having started “Timer” her group on the last holes. Counting a stroke ahead with three holes to play, his bogeys on holes 16 and 17 will be fatal to him to claim victory.

She was also fined after the tournament $2000 for slow play.

In Gee Chun thus adds a new trophy to its list, the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, a trophy that joins its two other major titles, the US Women's Open and the Amundi Evian Championship.
