Built in 1909 to accommodate the greats of this world, the Royal Hotel owes its name to the King of England, Edward VII, who was to be one of the establishment's first guests. Disappeared in 1910, the British sovereign will unfortunately not have time to find out. But celebrities and members of the aristocracy will not stop succeeding, such as the Aga Khan, Marcel Proust, Sacha Guitry, Greta Garbo or more recently Gilbert Bécaud, Elizabeth II, and François Mitterrand.

Entrusted to architects François Champsaur and François Chatillon, the renovation of the hotel in 2015 combines historical heritage with the latest creations of contemporary design. The 150 rooms and suites of the hotel, member of Leading Hotels of the World, have also been delicately restored and modernized. The soft patina of the period furniture in precious wood - mahogany, rosewood, Ceylon lemon tree - specially designed for the places originally has been revived. On the sixth floor, previously used for meetings and conferences, seven luxurious private suites have been fitted out, with a view of the lake and the Alps reaching new heights. On the garden level, a new conference center has emerged.

In the restaurant Les Fresques, Chef Patrice Vander and his team offer inventive and refined cuisine, made from exceptional products. The soft lines of the blue and green velvet armchairs and the lighting of the brass chandeliers enhance the curves of the frescoes and reinvent the magic of the place. On the menu, some classics, such as sea bream marinated in mango, wakame and Osciètre caviar or Bresse chicken, supreme studded with foie gras with fine herbs and yellow wine. The desserts, concocted by pastry chef Stéphane Arrête and his team, are all delicacies to taste. Among them, the essential “R”, a gastronomic surprise made with dark chocolate that reveals a different heart depending on the season. A little further, the Veranda, which gives way to L'Oliveraie in summer, offers generous and international cuisine.
