Henrik Stenson is no longer Ryder Cup captain
Ryder Cup Europe announced last week the end of Henrik Stenson's contract as captain of the next Ryder Cup in Italy. The Swede is reportedly tipped to join LIV Golf in the coming weeks which would go against established rules to be eligible for the captaincy. Team Europe must therefore find a new captain for the 2023 Ryder Cup.
LIV Golf has definitely not finished making the golf world talk. Several champions having already joined the circuit, other players continue to grow the ranks of Greg Norman's project despite several sanctions already taken against dissident players. A thunderclap sounded last week, Henrik Stenson is no longer captain of the European Ryder Cup Team 2023.
A statement from Ryder Cup Europe.

"Ryder Cup Europe today confirms that Henrik Stenson's tenure as Captain of Team Europe for the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club, Rome, Italy from September 25 to October 1 has been terminated. with immediate effect. »
The winner of The Open Championship 2016 should therefore join the LIV circuit and participate in the next event on the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster. Just over a year from the next Ryder Cup, Team Europe therefore finds itself without a captain. Several names already stand out:
- a former world number 1, Luke Donald
- Thomas Björn victorious at the 2018 Ryder Cup in France and having led his captaincy with a masterful hand
- Robert Karlsson, another Swedish Ryder Cup winner as a player and as a vice-captain.
