As France reopens its borders, golfers at the Golf d'Hardelot and the Touquet Golf Resort in the north of France can now appreciate certain improvements to the courses and training areas as well as new hole layouts.

At the Hardelot Golf Course, where the Pins and Dunes courses are located, the period of confinement allowed the team of greenkeepers to finalize the very subtle renovation of the course of the Pins bearing the signature of Tom Simpson. This Pins project had started in November 2019 and had consisted in lowering the elevation of the tee of hole n ° 3 and in softening the landing zones of the green of hole n ° 14 in order to increase the number of flag positions.

All these modifications have now been finalized and have quickly become part of the new course landscape, the recent closure of golf having given these revisited play areas more time to quietly slip into their new skin.

Ludovic Hettinger, the head of the maintenance of the Golf d'Hardelot who continued to take care of the two 18 holes, made this observation: “The confinement allowed the course to better integrate these new changes. We also took advantage of this period to expand the Pins putting green by 25%, which allows for better social distancing with regard to current measures, even if that was not the goal initially sought. "

At the "brother" golf course at Touquet Golf Resort, located 20 kilometers further south, players can now benefit from more flexible playing options on the 18-hole La Forêt and the 9-hole Le Manoir.

Thanks to the change of routing of two holes on each course and thanks to the creation of a new green on hole n ° 18 of La Forêt, the regulars of these golf courses of the Opal Coast now have the possibility, in fact, to play three times 9 holes, all converging on the clubhouse. It is, of course, always possible to complete the 18 holes of La Forêt if that is the choice of the players.

Charles Debruyne, the golf director of Touquet Golf Resort, was obviously delighted with the reopening of the club: “The players were impatient to come back. In just three days, we recorded over 800 departure reservations. We hope that the message delivered by Edouard Philippe, the Prime Minister, who encouraged the French to spend their holidays in France, will allow us to welcome even more visitors who would take advantage of the best routes in France, including the links n ° 1 in France *. "

Nestled between the dunes as far as the eye can see of the Opal Coast and the horizon of a vast pine forest, Le Touquet Golf Resort and the Golf d'Hardelot are located, as we have said, some 20 kilometers away. one from the other, in the southern part of the most northern department of France, Pas-de-Calais. They both belong to the Open Golf Club network.
