Le GTGA Invitational 2020 on the ladies side

For a resumption of competition and a return to the game under pressure, the French did not pretend. This Saturday, for the last lap on the Berliner Golf Club Stolper Heide route, Lucie Malchirand et Pauline Roussin-Bouchard shared the final part with Alexandra försterling (ALL), leader at the start of 1. A position that she managed to keep for a dozen holes before seeing her lead melt away under the onslaught of our Habs.

First at Par 5 of 11 where Lucie ticks an eagle, Pauline a birdie while the local player only comes out with a par. At this moment and according to Patricia Meunier-Lebouc, present on the edge of the fairway, the part capsized: " I felt after par 5 of 11 that it could turn in favor of the girls. The German only comes out of this hole with one par while it can be reached in two but above all the French were putting the pressure and behind that made the German unpin. »

Indeed, from the next hole Forsterling loses a hit with a bogey. At 13 she took a double bogey and the bad series continued. The morning leader is no longer there. New triple bogey at 15, it fell in the standings, while at Les Bleues the machine was unrolling, in particular at Lucie.

With three birdies on her last four holes, the world number 13 takes off. Pauline tries to hang on but despite a birdie at the 16th and another at the 18th, the Varoise lets the victory slip away and ranks 2nd at -9: " Today it was not my best golf and in addition I was in lack of success even on the good shots. That's how it is, there are days when you can give your all, it does not want to pass on your side. Despite everything the game is gradually recovering and the attitude is good, said Pauline. »

It is therefore Lucie Malchirand who wins at -11 total with a beautiful finish on a card of -6 (66). The Frenchwoman kept her rank and even allowed herself to outclass her world number 1 friend. What more could you ask for a cover: " From the start of the game I played pretty well. I admit that initially, with seven strokes behind, I was not convinced I could win even if I had it in the back of my head. I putt well, I was in my thing without focusing on what was happening with my playing partners and bim the victory falls. I'm super happy, I missed feeling the stress of winning at the start of the 18th. Having trained during these long months is working. I feel that I have gained confidence, my physique is better, I'm in better shape, I hit harder and then I was motivated like never before so it's a great victory for recovery. »

In addition to these two girls, there were other Tricolors still in the race and they were not unworthy. Gala Dumez finished in a nice 7th place at -2 total with a little lead on Agathe Laisne which is placed 11th. Lois Lau offers itself a top 15 at +1 total.

The tricolor was very nearly displayed on the first step for men too. He finally showed himself on the third step of the podium after the very good performance of Julien sale which ends at -13.

The end of the game will once again have played tricks on Reunion. Ticking off a heavy double bogey at the 17th, the Frenchman, like the previous days, narrowly missed in the final. Despite everything, he signed a nice 3rd place for his return to competition. What to foresee good results for the rest of the season.

The victory goes to the German Frederik schott to -15 total. David Ravetto, the other Blue in the race this Saturday, finished 13th at -9.

The words of the staff: Patricia Meunier-Lebouc

“It was a real pleasure to see the entire France group evolving at such a level. They all did a phenomenal job during containment and signing a comeback like this is remarkable. "

“Beyond the game, it was also great to find them, they really wanted to win and I was impressed by their level of play and their commitment. What is important now is to take a step back and tell yourself that they and that they have it under their feet for the rest of the season. "

“It's a good trigger for the weeks to come! Superb recovery with a map in the pocket, on an accessible but tricky course. They will all leave with confidence and desire for the future, that's for sure. "
