This summer, Le Golf National embarked on nearly eight months of major renovation work on the Albatross course. A new milestone for golf and the French Golf Federation, which are preparing to host the most prestigious team golf competition in the world in three years, but not only: they are also preparing the club to become a world benchmark for the twenty-five coming years.

A few weeks after the victory of Bernd Wiesberger who showed exceptional mastery during the 99th Edition of the Alstom Open in France, Le Golf National kicked off the work of the Albatros. 90 people mobilized, 11 companies on the job, 10 tonnes of sand used, a large part of which comes from recycling, 000km of pipes for drinking water, fiber optics, etc.: this is now the daily life of the Ryder route Cup 100 which occupies the Top 2018 of the best golf courses in the world (Golf World Magazine UK) and was named best French course in 100 (Today's Golfer Travel UK).

After 25 years of good and loyal service, the Albatros needs a facelift. Also, Le Golf National has decided to undertake the modernization of its drainage system and the creation of a natural retention basin. The banks of the lakes are also being improved, as are the traffic lanes, some of which will see 40-ton trucks arriving in 2018. And work is progressing well! This is evidenced by the new high performance irrigation system which has already been installed on 5 holes. "The objective is to identify the areas of play that really need to be watered and to reduce water consumption by 30%," said Paul Armitage, Director of National Golf. A new illustration of the French Golf Federation's desire to opt for ever more environmentally friendly practices.

As for the remodeling of the course, "Some minor changes will be made to the layout" he specifies. “The works will essentially aim at modifying the greens of holes 1 and 16 so as to give them better flag positions. Several departures will also be widened to provide more space for players, caddies and referees, without forgetting the change in the sand that lines the bunkers […] ”.

Are you curious to discover behind the scenes of the work carried out in the context of the preparation of a Ryder Cup course? The National Golf offers to guide you through fairways and greens from September to November. “The interest of our golfers is such that we imagined The Ryder Cup Experience, a visit to the Albatross site in a small group with a return to the history of golf. It can even be accompanied by a lunch at the Club House to offer our customers a memorable half-day ”.

These course renovations are in line with the numerous improvements made to the facilities at the Golf National this year and the creation of new services offered to customers. The club's objective: to offer an exclusive and unforgettable experience to all its French and international golfers. Several stages are still to be crossed by 2018 so that Le Golf National can establish its position of world reference for the next twenty-five years but the momentum is definitely launched.

For those who cannot wait until the end of April 2016 and the reopening of the Albatros 2.0 version course, at the dawn of the 100th Edition of the Alstom Open de France, “a composite 9-hole course will open in December 2015 […]” reveals Paul Armitage. In the meantime, take advantage of the Aigle and Oiselet routes at the best price thanks to flexible subscriptions and all the facilities that remain open all year round.
