The American looked set for another victory at North Berwick after stretching his lead two strokes before sunset to post -7 under par and clinch his first Rolex Series.

The Californian Olympic Champion was one stroke ahead of Kurt Kitayama, and one stroke further ahead of South Korean Joohyung Kim, just ahead of Tommy Fleetwood and Patrick Cantlay in the first co-sanctioned event between the DP World Tour and the PGA TOUR.

The 28-year-old already has two victories this season at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans (alongside Cantlay) and the Travelers Championship in his last start on the PGA TOUR. He also won the JP McManus Pro Am on Tuesday (unofficial) before arriving at the Renaissance Club.

Kitayama, Jamie Donaldson and Brandon Wu finished in the top ten to clinch their tickets to The Open Championship next week at St Andrews while Connor Syme won the Jock MacVicar Memorial Trophy as the best Scotsman.
