"We are delighted to support professional women's golf and to offer the best players in the sport a platform that will allow them to freely express their talents"said Dan Towriss, CEO of Group 1001. “We are honored to work alongside the LPGA to bring this new event to the Boca Rio Golf Club and to southeast Florida. "

This new event will be one of two LPGA Tour tournaments to be held in Florida in January 2020. The year will begin with the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions January 15-19 at Lake Buena Vista, one week before the Gainbridge LPGA in Boca Rio. The Sunshine State will also book the Tour season, which will culminate in the GMC Group Tour Championship in Naples in November.

"We would like to thank our good friends at Group1001 and the Boca Rio Golf Club for their support of the LPGA and their desire to host a world class event in South Florida"said Mike Whan, Commissioner of the LPGA. “Personally, I can't wait to be in 2020 when we launch the Gainbridge LPGA in Boca Rio for our fans around the world and for the many golf fans in Boca Raton. "

The inaugural Gainbridge LPGA in Boca Rio will feature a field of 108 players who will compete for $ 2 million over 72 holes in stroke play. Boca Rio Golf Club, which was founded in 1967 and designed by Robert von Hagge, is located just 6 miles from the Atlantic Ocean on 200 acres of Florida wilderness. A luxury member-owned golf club, Boca Rio is a rolling golf course with wavy greens and white sand bunkers with no real estate developed.

"We are honored to welcome the best female golfers in the world to our course and we thank Morgan Pressel, Honorary Member of Boca Rio, for encouraging us to take this step," said Paul Shapiro, president of the Boca Rio Golf Club. “We are also very impressed with Group1001 and the work they do to promote STEM education among young women, which is another reason this event will be an exciting opportunity for this community. We can't wait to welcome local fans and LPGA players to Boca Rio next January. "
