During the two confinements in 2020, the French Golf Federation worked actively to put in place solutions to allow an opening as soon as possible and under the best conditions. To do this, it has worked closely with professional organizations in the sector: association of managers, commercial golf courses, course stewards, golf professionals ...

This crisis brought to a halt the activity of companies organizing golf events in France, whether public or private, amateurs, professionals or pro-am. This is why several operators have come together to send a letter to the officials of the federation in order to share their concerns. The latter showed great listening skills, offering them to participate in the drafting of the specifications for resuming competitions in the clubs. Thanks to this constructive collaboration, most private operations were able to resume very quickly. It remains to find as soon as possible the conditions favorable to the organization of professional tournaments, most of which were canceled in 2020.

This sector of activity represents tens of thousands of amateur players who take their license to participate in these competitions, investments of several tens of millions of euros from private companies and communities, which also fuel the golf economy. by booking routes, consuming in pro-shops and restaurants ...

This is why several market players have decided to create an association bringing together the organizers of golf events in France, to be identified as market players, represented by the governing bodies of this sport and to collaborate for an optimization of the conditions of golf. carrying out their missions.

The objectives of the France Golf Events association will in particular be to develop a code of ethics for the profession, to put in place solutions to facilitate its activity, to reflect alongside other players in the sport to develop its practice and its economy, etc.

During the first Constitutive General Assembly on December 8, the Bureau was elected for one year: Edouard Tuffier (Swing) will be president, Antoine Robin (come # together) vice-president, Christophe Cantegrel (Golf First) secretary general and Thomas Cabrières (BCM Sports) treasurer. In addition to these 4 companies, other market players wished to join this association: Bruno Rebeuh Conseils, Golf Consulting, Kalika, Makilas Golf Tour and Pro Sports Events.

The objective of its founders is to welcome all the players who wish to join them in order to constitute a solid group and representative of the main golf events on French territory.

Édouard Tuffier (President): “The players in the world of golf-related events were not represented until now in an association to defend the interests of the profession in the same way as the PGA, ADGF or GEGF. This is done thanks to the initiative of Antoine Robin whom I thank for his action.

The golf events sector brings together around ten players of different sizes which generate an estimated turnover of around 15 to 20 million euros per year (excluding golf travel agencies). Golf courses and restaurants directly benefit from this essential windfall to keep their structure alive.

The creation of France Golf Events (FGE) serves to structure the world of golf events to guarantee investors who wish to communicate in golf (sponsors, companies, institutions, patrons, etc.) a quality of professional achievement. We are proud to have created FGE, which will defend the interests of our businesses and make the necessary improvements to harmonize our approaches and actions with the golf courses and the bodies that make it up. "

Antoine Robin (vice-president): “We were very afraid during the first confinement, that our year would be completely white. Thanks to the responsiveness of the ffgolf, the dynamism of the clubs and the passion of the golfers, we have succeeded in limiting the damage. This unprecedented situation made me realize that our profession was not at all structured as are the directors, green-keepers, or the pros. The very constructive atmosphere which reigns overall in our profession made it possible to exchange quickly and lead to the creation of this association in 6 months. Now it's up to us to work so that our initiative bears fruit and demonstrates its usefulness. »

Christophe Cantegrel (Secretary General): “For once, the Covid-19 will have been good. It has allowed us to come together, to unite to overcome the new challenges that await us. "

Thomas Cabrières (Treasurer): “The crisis that we have gone through in recent months has made us aware that our profession does not have a representative body allowing us to participate in discussions with other players in the sector. We are delighted to have set up this association which will be able, at its level, to participate in the development of French golf. "
