It is on the magnificent course of the Albatross du Golf National that the final of the 2017 edition of the En route pour 2018 trophy organized by Open Golf Club took place. And the 18 teams of 2 players qualified during the 18 stages organized in France and Belgium between April 9 and September 24 met on Saturday morning for the first round organized in a Play match and in 4 balls. The 18 teams were divided into 2 groups, the group of southern golf courses representing the United States, dressed in red and the group of northern golf courses representing Europe, wearing blue; in total for this first day of competition, 9 points to be awarded. Each group had its captain, Jade Schaeffer, professional player on the Ladies European Tour 2017, in charge of the American team and Christian Cévaër, the Ambassador of the Trophy on the way to 2018, in charge of the European team.

The weather was fine, however with an omnipresent wind and a few small passages of rain to make things worse and the first day ended with a score largely in favor of the United States with a somewhat scathing 7-2 !!! But the captain Christian Cévaër still believed in it with for the next day a meeting in match play always but this time in singles and with 18 points to distribute.

After the traditional Gala dinner organized in the presence of Laurent Boissonnas, General Manager of Open Golf Club, at the Novotel Club House where everyone was able to appreciate the quality of the menu offered by Chef Nicolas Meurillon, the participants returned to their rooms. for a well-deserved rest! The next day, Sunday, a very cool wind greeted the players for the clinic organized from 9am by Christian and Jade to the delight of participants eager to discover some little secrets! And from 10:40 am, the departures of the 18 matches followed one another and despite all the efforts of the European team, the US tornado descended on this superb course that is the Albatross, theater of the Ryder Cup in 2018 and posted a victory without appeal from 14 to 4 on this second day. All in all, a landslide victory for Team USA with 21-6; well done to the whole team and to its captain, Jade Schaffer.

The awards ceremony took place at the Novotel and took place in a very warm atmosphere; the 2 teams were naturally rewarded but also the winners of the 8 precision competitions and the 2 drive competitions set up during these 2 days of sport and conviviality; in addition, 4 draws were organized. And it is in a very beautiful atmosphere that the teams set out again to the 4 corners of France and Belgium and all with the desire to meet again next year to attend the Ryder Cup 2018 and also participate in the 2018 edition of the Open Golf Club trophy!
