Due to the current health crisis and the spread of the Covid-19, the European Tour has decided to cancel the French Open, the BMW International Open and postpone the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, a prestigious Rolex event Series.

European circuit calendar: cancellations and postponementsThe French Open, the oldest national Open in continental Europe, was to take place from July 2 to 5, at the Golf National, in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. The cancellation of the latter by the European Tour follows the decision of the French government to ban all mass public gatherings and events until mid-July. Also canceled, the BMW International Open, which has been played every year since 1989, was to be played from June 25 to 28 in Munich, Germany.

Regarding the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, one of the eight Rolex Series tournaments, initially expected at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick from July 9 to 12, discussions are underway to reschedule the event.

Keith Pelley, General Manager of the European Tour, on the cancellation of the BMW International Open and the French Open:

“The decision to cancel the BMW International Open, which has been a major event on the European circuit for more than three decades, and the French Open, a national Open with a very long and rich history, was taken in consultation with our long-standing partners, on the one hand, BMW, and on the other, the French Golf Federation. The health of all is our top priority. Germany and France have been strongly affected by the coronavirus, and our hearts go out to all concerned in both countries, as well as elsewhere in the world ”.

Keith Pelley, Managing Director of the European Tour, on the postponement of the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open:

« In consultation with Aberdeen Standard Investments, Visit Scotland and Rolex, we have also decided to postpone the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, an event of the prestigious Rolex Series. Discussions on the possibility of rescheduling this event will continue in the coming weeks. We are studying several scenarios. We will not announce the details of these plans until we have a clear picture of the world situation. »
