The Swedish Madelene Sagström took the lead in the leaderboard after the first round, on the course of the Kasumigaseki Country club in the town of Kawagoe, where 60 players set out in search of an Olympic medal. Perrine Delacour, the first French in the provisional ranking, is in 16th position (-1), while Céline Boutier is 41st (+3).

Women's Olympic event: Madelene Sagström in the lead, Delacour T20

Madelene Sagström is alone in the lead (-5), posted a strong card of 66, without bogey.

After seeing Xander Sc Chaudele win the men's gold medal last week, the Kasumigaseki Country Club course welcomes the ladies for the women's Olympic event this week. After the first round, the Swedish Madelene Sagström is therefore alone in the lead with a card of 66 (-5), a solid card with 5 birdies for no bogey.

She is closely followed by the Indian Aditi Ashok and the American world number 1 Nelly Corda who both made a card of 67 (-4). The two Japanese Nasa Hataoka and Mone Inami, playing on their soil, both rank 16th with cards of 70 (-1).

Rio Inbee Park 2016 medalists Lydia Ko and Shanshan Feng are 7th (-2), 16th (-1) and 47th (+3) respectively. The Korean and world number 3 is therefore placed in ambush to aim for the double.
On the French side, Perrine Delacour is ranked 16th with a card of 70 (-1). After bogeying the par 3 of hole number 4, she birdies twice on the par 5 of holes 8 and 14 to get back below par.

Céline Boutier, for her part, returns a card of 73 (+2). She signs 3 birdies on her first 9 holes against 2 bogeys and therefore passes the first leg in -1. The return was more difficult for Céline who commits a bogey at 12 then two consecutive bogeys on holes 15 and 16: she therefore ends her return in +3. She ranks 41st after the first day.

See you on Thursday night for the second round of this women's Olympic event.
