Neither a work of video art, nor an artist's film, this visual film creation constitutes an original and spectacular proposal to “expose” Wim Wenders' cinema as an object first and foremost artistic - in the sense in which Henri Langlois spoke. cinema "as a plastic art and not a dramatic art". The plastic spring of cinema is undoubtedly the editing. The unique work that Wim Wenders creates for this event is thus an unprecedented montage based on images from his own films, free from any narrative framework, and focused on the aesthetic of the artist. The white screen of a cinema room is replaced by the grandiose architecture of the Nave of the Grand Palais: watching the cinema will no longer be a frontal but immersive experience.

During these exceptional evenings, visitors stroll in the Nave and contemplate the images of Wim Wenders projected in monumental size by a technological projection device "mapping", made up of 12 4K (ultra-high definition) projectors, thus covering a large part. of the architecture of the Nave (over its entire width at 270 degrees). A device unique in Europe, designed and patented by the ATHEM workshop, scenographer of the event.

A cinematographic kaleidoscope allows the viewer to immerse themselves and contemplate in a new way the visual universe of one of the greatest contemporary filmmakers, with poetic and universal language.

The thematic conductors of this cinematographic installation, projected in a loop to music chosen by the artist, are " movement " et "The search for lost meaning". All of Wim Wenders' cinema is stylistically based on movement. Characters and camera are always and mainly on the road, traveling, wandering, crossing landscapes and destinies, sometimes wandering. Deeply European, Wim Wenders includes in this artistic experience a re fl ection on borders and freedom of movement, themes that preoccupy Europeans at the moment.

The projected film is both an original work, because it is based on an original montage, and also an opportunity to rediscover, emerging like waves of memories, the images of the flagship works of the work of Wim Wenders, of Alice in the cities with Wings of Desire. Dreamlike and aesthetic, this poetic artistic experience is a way for the visitor to come to “live” in Wim Wenders' cinema during a stroll through the 13 m500 of the Nave of the Grand Palais.
