From July 15, Scottish tourism and hospitality businesses - including B & Bs, hotels, restaurants, museums and other attractions - will once again be able to open their doors to welcome visitors. Last week, the Scottish government announced that visitors from 57 countries, including France, Switzerland and Belgium, will be able to travel to Scotland from July 10 without having to self-quarantine upon arrival. VisitScotland is looking forward to once again welcoming international visitors across the country for a few days. However, there are a number of things that there are a number of things to keep in mind for those planning to visit Scotland in the next few months.

Please be aware that the end of Scotland's lockdown is gradual, and as a result our government is taking a phased approach. This means that our tourism industry is currently only preparing to reopen as of July 15, and that physical distancing, enhanced hygiene measures and other restrictions will remain in place for the weeks and months to come through the country. Scottish tourism businesses are currently working hard to adapt their offer to provide visitors with as enjoyable and safe an experience as possible in preparation for their reopening. However, this means that attractions and accommodation will not open their doors to visitors at the same time. We therefore recommend our visitors to plan and check in advance which establishments and attractions are open, but also to research the companies that support the program " Good to Go »Aiming to guarantee the safety and reception of visitors. It is also important that we all pay attention to local communities and support the local tourism industry on our trips to Scotland, consuming local, avoiding high traffic areas and taking our time to explore the beauty of the Scotland.

The main reason behind the government's step-by-step approach is the safety of people who live in Scotland, but also of those who want to visit our beautiful country. As soon as we can say with certainty that our industry is ready to welcome international visitors and that our attractions are open to receive visitors, we will welcome you with open arms.

For now, we ask that you take your time planning your next visit and not begin your adventures in Scotland until our destination is safe - and fully open - to welcome you.
