PGA Tour stays in the Hawaiian Islands this week for the Sony Open

After watching Cameron Smith win the Tournament of Champions last week on the Kapalua course, the PGA Tour remains in Hawaii for a historic circuit event: the Sony Open. The Sony Open has been the biggest tournament in the Pacific archipelago for 24 years. The PGA Tour players will compete this week for a global prize of 7,5 million euros. Title sponsor since 1999, Sony will remain a major partner of the tournament until 2026.

Once again, this historic event is hosted by the Waialae Country Club. Created in 1927 and designed by Seth Raynor, players will have to do a par 72 of 6,515 m.

The headliner of the tournament will be none other than Cameron Smith, having made it to the world top 10 last week thanks to his victory. Initially in the playing field this week, Bryson DeChambeau finally had to give up his place in the tournament following a wrist injury. The overpowered American works tirelessly to increase his club speed, a record that he has also broken and is benefiting the whole world on social networks but sometimes pays the price.

This week will also be an opportunity for Paul Barjon to resume competition after almost two months without a tournament. With two cuts from four tournaments played on the PGA Tour this season, the 2021 Huntsville Championship (KornFerry Tour) winner has been working hard during the break. He will be the only Frenchman entered this week at the Waialae Country Club.
