With the introduction of the brand new DNA Helix, FootJoy has completely revised its DNA category (DryJoys Next Advancement). The 2017 grind features a wider platform and a structured, lightweight construction to generate power from the ground.

Launched in 2014, the DNA range has been widely adopted by players of all skill levels, including players from various professional circuits. Inspired by the success of DNA, the DNA Helix was entirely developed from specific comments from the best players in the world who appreciated the combination of flexibility and comfort, but wanted greater stability, especially at the heel.

"I have worn all versions of DNA, and this is by far the best fit for me", book Scott Stallings. “The added support that's built in, especially laterally, is fantastic when gaining momentum and crossing the ball. "

The basis of the new NitroThin 3.0 TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) outsole of DNA Helix has been developed to provide the added stability desired by Tour players. DNA Helix is 38% more stable than previous DNA. Those responsible for development did this by widening the space between the crampons' threads at the heel by 13%, which made it possible to cover a larger area under the foot. In addition, a new liner has been developed with more lateral stability, and thanks to the insertion of FoamCollar 3D foam, the foot is better held in place in the shoe.

The new outsole also features cutouts in the TPU. They are strategically placed to further expose the more flexible midsole. This outsole is therefore 23% lighter than that of the previous version, and also more flexible.

"Improving a shoe as popular as DNA was certainly a challenge, but the ongoing dialogue that we had with our Tour team allowed us to find an opportunity to improve the overall performance of the category", explains Keith Duffy, Footwear Product Manager at FJ. “But in our view, this is not just an update. The DNA Helix is a completely new shoe, we started from scratch to offer performance equivalent to that sought on the Tour, and light comfort for all players. "

In addition to a wider platform, the performance and comfort of the shoe have undergone a few evolutions, in particular:

  • The new NitroThin ™ 3.0 TPU outsole. It is lighter and wider than our popular DNA shoe, for stability equivalent to that sought on the Tour.
  • The new FTF (Fine Tuned Foam) midsole that offers flexibility and lightness in walking all along the route.
  • The new Xtra-Thick FTF Fitbed (Fine Tuned Foam) liner that provides incredible comfort underfoot.
  • The new TourSpec Stretch ™ tongue that provides comfort on the top of the foot.
  • The new 3D FoamCollar 2.0 foam that keeps the foot in place comfortably.
