For the first time in the history of the European Tour, an American is crowned the best golfer on the circuit. Leader of the Race to Dubai this week, Collin Morikawa put the icing on the cake by winning the last tournament of the season: the DP World Tour Championship.

The Race to Dubai and the DP World Tour Championship awarded their share of suspense this week on the Jumeirah Golf Estates course.

Starting with three strokes behind Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa will have been able to remain patient this Sunday. After six pars on his first six holes, the American signed his first birdie on the par 5 of hole number 7. He was still three strokes behind the Northern Irish leader at the start of the 12th.

The former world number 1 was in control of his early game with two birdies for a single bogey, saw his game turn against him at hole number 15. After a good drive, the quadruple winner in major hits a wedge straight to the flag, which unfortunately hits it, the ball ending in the bunker. This fact of the game will cost McIlroy a bogey. Two new bogeys on holes 16 and 18 buried his chances of winning.

Morikawa at the same time started the birdie machine. He plays 31 on his return with five birdies on his last seven holes. He returns one last card of 66 (-6) to grab the win.

After obtaining his European Tour lifetime membership card from Keith Pelley, Collin Morikawa lived up to this distinction this week by becoming the best player on the European Tour.

Rory McIlroy finally finished sixth in the event.

Blue side:

Our French have experienced a last complicated round. Antoine Rozner, after a fiery start and three birdies on his first three holes, finally returned a card of 72 (PAR). He finished in 39th place.

Victor Perez returns a card of 75 (+3), he finishes in 46th place.

The Racingman finished in 44th place in the Race to Dubai.

Victor Perez finished 47th in the European ranking.
