This week will be the end of a great golf story. Since 1983, the Mission Hills course had been a women's major course hosting the tournament that is now known as the Chevron Championship. It was the Thai Patty Tavatanakit who was crowned last year.

This new week on the LPGA Tour is the first major week of the season with a historic tournament with a new name: the Chevron Championship. This tournament was previously called the ANA inspiration having crowned the Thai Patty Tavatanakit last year. This 2022 edition will be the last edition for the Mission Hills Country Club as host of the event.

The Mission Hills Country Club has evolved over the years with the tournament previously called the ANA Inspiration. This tournament is once again changing sponsors this year to become the Chevron Championship. This change of sponsor also marks the end of an era since the tournament will be played for the last time at Mission Hills this year. The California course has hosted the tournament since 1972 and saw the event become a major in 1983.

Many sponsors have succeeded for this major tournament:

  • 1972–80: Colgate-Dinah Shore Winner's Circle
  • 1981: Colgate-Dinah Shore
  • 1982: Nabisco Dinah Shore Invitational
  • 1983–99: Nabisco Dinah Shore
  • 2000–01: Nabisco Championship
  • 2002–14: Kraft Nabisco Championship
  • 2015– 2021: ANA Inspiration
  • 2022-ongoing: Chevron Championship

The par 72 of 6763 yards from Mission Hills had crowned Patricia Meunier-Lebouc in 2003, the last Frenchwoman to have won a major.

From 2023, the event will head to Houston. Like every major, the tournament will be richly endowed with a Prize money of 5 million dollars and the field of player will welcome the best players in the world.
