The tournament has often acted as a springboard for young players. The 2014 tournament winner, Hyo Joo Kim, 19, is currently No. 4 in the world. New Zealander Lydia Ko, just 17, took first place in the Rolex Rankings (world ranking) and is already a regular of the greens of Evian.
American Michelle Wie, present at the tournament since her professional debut, was voted 2014 player of the year with the best performances in the five Majors of the 2014 season, at the Rolex Annika Major Award. The 2015 ceremony will take place in Evian on Saturday September 12, in the presence of the governing institutions representing the five Grand Slam tournaments.
