This Trust Golf Women's Ladies Open got off to a flying start with a shower of birdies as 63 players played under par on the first day. The best of them is Hye-Jin Choi who returns to the clubhouse with a card of 64 (-8), a bogey, an eagle and seven birdies.

She is closely followed by a trio of players: Lydia Ko, Lilia Vu and Céline Boutier. Not having passed the Cut during The Amundi Evian Championship, the French number 1 starts her tournament in the best possible way with a card of 65 (-7) devoid of bogey.

A second Frenchwoman is in the top 10: Pauline Roussin-Bouchard is seventh. The French rookie signs three bogeys for eight birdies and a total of -5. She therefore places herself in ambush three shots from the head with players like Minjee Lee or Hyo Joo Kim at her side.

Ryan O'Toole winner last year ranks 14th after the first round with a card of 68 (-4).

Jin Young Ko, the world number 1 is 32nd in the event at -2.

The scores of the French women:

Perrine Delacour and Emma Grechi both play 73 (+1). They are 82nd.

Lucie Malchirand returns a card of 77 (+5), she is 127th.
