The “Golf for Biodiversity” labels:

With a third of the surface being devoted to natural habitats, golf is arguably one of the sports with the strongest interaction with the environment. Responsible management of the course and green spaces is therefore a priority.

Aware of the potential and richness in biodiversity present on golf courses, the French Golf Federation has joined forces with the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN) to support environmental initiatives, by labeling the commitments of golf courses entitled "Golf Program for Biodiversity ”in order to improve knowledge, management and conservation of biodiversity within golf courses.

The Bluegreen Dunkerque Grand Littoral Golf: a wealth of heritage

The Bluegreen Dunkerque Grand Littoral golf site is located in Coudekerque Village in the heart of a green crescent of 350 hectares between the Bergue canal and the Bois des Forts.

The carrying out of inventories by Audiccé Biodiversity of the aquatic environment and the open environment have made it possible to demonstrate the presence of diverse habitats, remarkable plant species or even species protected at the regional scale such as the Ophrys Abeille and endangered paludicultural birds such as the Reed Sparrow or even the Scaring Rousselotte.

Faced with the extraordinary development and improvement potential in favor of biodiversity, Bluegreen teams have implemented several actions to promote biodiversity:

  • reduction of fertilizer inputs for a reasoned maintenance of lawns
  • restoration of the banks of water bodies to develop riverine vegetation
  • expansion of wasteland and meadow areas
  • introduction of extended mowing rotations

All of its actions go hand in hand with controlling the carbon footprint thanks to the fleet of carts made up 100% of electric carts and low consumption lighting.

The Golf Bluegreen Dunkerque Grand Littoral joins the 8 other Bluegreen golf courses awarded a Label from the federal program "golf for biodiversity":

  • Golf of Pléneuf Val André (22), bronze
  • Saint Laurent Golf (56), bronze
  • Golf de l'Ailette (02), bronze
  • Golf de Ploemeur Océan (56), bronze
  • Golf of Val Quéven (56), bronze
  • Golf of Grand Rodez (12), bronze
  • Golf de Avrillé (49), bronze and
