With more than 100 amateur players gathered, from April 30 to May 4 in Mont-Choisy, the first edition of the Beachcomber Mauritius Ladies Open was a great success. On the course and… at the clubhouse. Between two sips of champagne, many bursts of laughter and various anecdotes about the wind or the local “fatak” - this crazy grass from which it is very difficult to get out - here more than elsewhere the main thing was to have fun .

"I put my ball on the green, place my putter in the direction of the hole that I watch 2-3 seconds, then look at my ball again… except that it was gone in the meantime!" " Leaving hole 18 Annika tells her South African girlfriends about her misadventure and causes general hilarity. It must be said that Éole was in a teasing mood last Friday, on the northern tip of Mauritius, only 5 of the 102 participants of the Beachcomber Mauritius Ladies Open having played their handicap that day. “But whatever, we had a lot of fun. The course is superb and the tournament very well organized ”, emphasizes Françoise, a young retiree who lives on the island. Coming to Reunion Island, Véronique still laughs at her " masterpiece " from 15, the signature hole, a short par 3. “My ball was only a few inches in the water. Suddenly, it was too tempting: I took off my shoes and my socks to avoid dropping and winning a shot. I hit the ball very hard the first time ... then a second time. Except that the ball moved barely more than a millimeter each time and I was soaked! "

"A beautiful moment of friendship and sharing"

Organizer of the Beachcomber Mauritius Ladies Open, Nathalie Serret can also put on a big smile, and not only because she finished at the top of the tournament (with 3 index, she was the best player on paper). “I am 100% satisfied, especially because it's great to have been able to attract more than 100 participants, which makes our tournament the most important event for amateur players in the Indian Ocean. The atmosphere is excellent, here it's less a competition than a beautiful moment of friendship and sharing between us ”, rejoices the one who founded in 2006, "With a group of girlfriends", the Mauritius Ladies Golf Union, which brings together golfers from Mauritius.
