The spectacular Patty Tavatanakit, 103rd in the world, flies over the first Grand Slam lift of the season. Still the leader after three laps, the Thai rookie is ahead of her pursuers by five lengths to -14 at the head of the ANA Inspiration.

Spent professional last year, the 21-year-old rookie, from UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles), was suddenly ahead of the competition after two days where she had already perfectly managed the pressure inherited from her performance of the day before, despite the context of a major tournament.
This time it's a surge on her part, since she totals -14 thanks to seven successful birdies, against two conceded bogeys. This allows her to now count five lengths in a duo made up of South Korean Lee Mirim and American Ally McDonald. "I think I'll try to quickly forget what I accomplished today," said Tavatanakit, anxious to keep a cool head going into the last lap.

The experienced Chinese Feng Shanshan, winner of the LPGA Championship in 2012, who was his runner-up, slipped to 4th place by six strokes. South Korean Jin-Young Ko, No. 1 in the world, is in 7th place.
Note that Céline Boutier, the only French competitor, did just the par, thus maintaining her neutral card in 47 position.
