Since becoming a professional, the former world number one has missed no edition of the oldest national open on the European continent and has aligned an impressive series of results, including a victory in 2009. Martin Kaymer has indeed beaten Lee Westwood in play-off in Paris to garner the third of his 3 victories on the European Tour circuit and he has finished six times in the top ten in his 11 previous participations. The German star's brilliant record includes the 12 US PGA Championship and the 2010 US Open. He has also won the Ryder Cup three of the four times he has been part of the European team.

The man whose winning putt sealed the "Miracle of Medinah" in 2012 is eager to return to the lands that saw last September Europe win the Ryder Cup by beating the United States by a score of 17,5 to 10,5.

Martin Kaymer completes an already prestigious plateau, alongside notably the reigning champion Alex Noren, author of the last point of the European team which triumphed in Paris in 2018, and Thomas Bjørn, captain of this same team. Several winners of the Race to Dubai 2019 will also be present at the Amundi Open de France, including the Belgian Thomas Pieters, who played the Ryder Cup, the Swedes Sebastian Soderberg and Marcus Kinhult as well as the South Africans Erik van Rooyen and Christiaan Bezuidenhout.

Martin Kaymer's statement: “I can't wait to return to the Amundi Open de France. I have not missed a single edition of this event since I went pro and I am proud to have won it. "
“I love the National Golf course. For me, it is one of the best in Europe, along with those from Valderrama, St Andrews and Wentworth. I only performed well there. It is a course on which you have to hit the ball and deploy all the art of your game. I was not surprised that it served as a backdrop for the 2018 Ryder Cup. ”

“This tournament has a rich history and an illustrious record. I can't wait to put my ball there again in October. "

Amundi, the largest European asset management company, is this year the new main sponsor of the French Open, whose date has been postponed to punctuate an autumnal and exhilarating series of historic national open, just after the 'Open de España in Madrid and the Italian Open in Rome.
