Minjee Lee got off to a flying start, slamming three birdies over the first five holes, despite an expensive bogey on par 4 du17, but rebounded with another birdie on the 72nd and last hole which guaranteed him the victory.

« I started off pretty well, so I think I made three birdies out of the first nine and was pretty stable until the end. », she said. « Overall, I had a really solid day. I think my typing was pretty good. »

Minjee Lee's approach to No 18 was lucky as it turned past a thicket of trees towards the green. But a tricky chip brought him close enough to the hole for a final birdie, and victory.

« My Drive has gone a long way. I didn't expect to go this far. I had a 5 iron, but I had to go around a tree and I raised it a bit and was lucky not to touch the top of the tree ”admitted Lee. « I had a fairly easy chip after this shot. »

After two victories in 2016, Lee has since had a winless trough. However, Sunday's victory was a big relief for the South Korean. Confidence is in store for the US Women's Open next week.

« I will do the reconnaissance of the course and I also hope to have a good week », she said.

Karine cher regular despite her pregnancy

Karine Icher who finished 17th in the final classification (his second best result of the season) had a fairly consistent week at the LPGA Volvik Championship heading into the final round, as she recorded 71-72-71 laps heading into the final.

But then everything changed. Icher hit a 7 under par 65 on Sunday at the Travis Pointe Golf Club, tied for the round of the week. It was his lowest lap on the tour since the 65th anniversary of the LPGA Tour at the Bank of Hope Founders Cup in March 2017.

« It was fun, it was fun, the greens are perfect ... so it was cool », she said, calling Sunday's final a good warm-up for the US Women's Open next week with so many obstacles on the green.

Icher said the difference was on the greens on Sunday as the putts she had just missed the last few days all started to fall on the last lap.

Icher is four months pregnant (a second daughter, she confirmed on Sunday) but clearly showed no difficulties on Sunday.

« Once you get through the first trimester, it's a lot easier. The first three months are a nightmare. Your body is just adjusting to the new thing you have inside ”, did she say. “As soon as you go three months, and it's exactly the same for Lola (Icher's first daughter), your body changes, but less, and less fatigue, for sure.

Perrine Delacour finds herself in the top 40th tied (-5), followed by Joanna Klaten who finishes 56th tied (-2). Céline Herbin will be satisfied with the total after having returned a 72 card.
