For this new week of the PGA Tour, the players measured themselves against the difficult course of the Riviera Country Club during the Genesis Invitational. As every year, this course offers players difficult and extremely fast greens, often the scene of great twists. A field of noted players was present for this Invational tournament offering an endowment of 12 million dollars, with among others John Rahm, Collin Morikawa or Justin Thomas.

For his second victory on the PGA Tour, Joaquin Niemann succeeds Max Homa, winner of the Genesis Invitational in 2021. The young Chilean will have won his victory with a masterful hand, astonishing during the first two rounds with a double 63 (-8 ) to start the weekend at -16. He finally concluded the tournament with cards of 68 (-3) and 71 (PAR) and won with two strokes ahead of Collin Morikawa and Cameron Young at -19.

His second victory on the PGA Tour after the Military Tribute at The Greenbrier in 2019, allows him to climb to 20th place in the world, his best ranking to date. This young 23-year-old player starts the year with a bang with two top 10 finishes (at the Farmers Insurance Open and at the Saudi International) and a victory. He climbed to 7th place in the FedEx Cup.

Collin Morikawa concludes his week with a card of 65 (-6) and a total of -17, synonymous with 2nd place. This runner-up place on this Genesis Invitational brings him closer to John Rahm who still occupies the first place in the world ranking.

Cameron Young, double winner on the KornFerry Tour 2021, finished in joint second place alongside Collin Morikawa. This excellent result allows him to reach the 53rd place in the world (he was 113th).
