From May 9 to 13, 2017, 160 international players met at the 2017 Simone Thion de la Chaume Trophy on the Chantaco course for a week of high-level competition.

The players of the 19th edition of the Simone Thion de la Chaume Trophy launched this week of women's golf. For the second time, a Dutch professional lifts the Simone Thion de la Chaume Trophy Cup: Mette Hageman wins the Open International Senior Women with a score of +4 after 3 rounds of competition.

Having celebrated her 50th birthday less than a year ago, she obtained her first title as a senior. She is 4 strokes ahead of local professional Cathy Lespinasse. The first amateur, the Spaniard Maria de Orueta occupies the 3rd place and with her 2 compatriots Maria Castillo-Dolagaray and Rocio Ruiz de Velasco, they win the Nations Trophy.

"I am delighted to come back to play in the Basque Country and to see Catherine Lacoste again" Mette Hageman said with emotion, thanking French champion Catherine Lacoste, who this year is celebrating 50 years of her victory at the US Open. The STC Cup, the Trophy's little sister, was won by Belgian Véronique de Broqueville. Like every year, a gala dinner for more than 200 people took place at the Restaurant du Golf in Chantaco with renowned guests such as Georges Mauduit, vice champion of the giant slalom in 1966, and Jean Garaialde, French golf champion.
