At the start of the DP World Tour season, a crazy scenario played out in Dubai between two Ryder Cup players. The epilogue of the McIlroy / Fleetwood duel took place at the 18th, a cream spilled in favor of Tommy Fleetwood, with a final birdie, allowing the Englishman to win the Dubai Invitational. Rory McIlroy, leader at the start of the last hole, finished 2nd due to a ball in the water at the worst time. Romain Langasque and Julien Guerrier both finished in the top 15, in 14th position.

The outcome of the Dubai Invitational has been a long time coming! It was in the last game that everything was decided, a 100% European game between Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood: the Ryder Cup partners. The two men alternated between fantastic shots and gifts to the opponent: sometimes three putts for the Northern Irishman, sometimes three putts for the Englishman.

The world number 2 thus presented himself one step ahead of his British partner... And then disaster... Rory McIlroy sent his drive straight into the water hazard of the 72nd hole, leaving the door wide open for his opponent. Tommy Fleetwood didn't have to be asked. While his opponent closed his week with a bogey, he took care of making the winning birdie to secure another victory on the European Tour.

A little over a year after his last victory, he added a seventh success to his record on the DP World Tour.

A checkered performance for Rory McIlroy who finished 2nd alongside Thriston Lawrence. Despite many good shots and solid rounds, the four-time major winner made a few mistakes that undoubtedly cost him the victory. We can think back to his quadruple bogey on the second day and especially his final drive…

On the French side, two tricolors stood out to end their week in the top 15. Julien Guerrier and Romain Langasque finished 14th at -8. Antoine Rozner ranks 32nd and Julien Brun 56th.
