Spieth pulverized the competition and flew over the first round of the PGA Tour season with an impressive score of -30 overall with a card of 67 at the end of the last lap (-6).
His first pursuer and compatriot Patrick Reed, was relegated to eight shots (270).
Two other Americans share 3rd place, Brooks Koepka and Brand Snedeker,
tied with a score of 271.

The world No. 1 leading since Round 2 achieves the second-lowest score in a PGA event history, joining Ernie Els as the only players in PGA history to complete a four-round tournament at less-30 or less.
Els won the title in Kapalua in 2003 with a minus-31 card.

« It is a great pride for me to start the season like this, I took a short three week break and I start 2016 as I finished 2015 ″, Said the Texan, winner of two major titles in 2015. Spieth's runner-up in the world rankings, Australian Jason Day, never worried him this week, even though he finished strong with a card of 65 on Sunday: the winner of the PGA Championship finished in 10th place with a score of 277.
