The French Golf Federation (FFGolf) and the National Museum of Natural History are launching an unprecedented national program to study the biodiversity of French golf courses.

20160623_FFGOLF_SignatureConventionWithMuseumNationalHistoireNatural_03the 1er next July, on the occasion of the French Open, at the Golf National of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the French Golf Federation and the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), partners since 2007, will commit officially for the next four years in an original, unprecedented and ambitious project: a national program to study the biodiversity of French golf courses. This partnership is part of the Muséum's mission of institutional expertise in the field of biodiversity and aims to relate scientific questions to the more operational needs of space managers.

Its basic objective is to scientifically assess the challenges of biodiversity in golf courses, to develop and deploy a multitude of tools in favor of the preservation and enhancement of their natural heritage. The National Golf of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the permanent site of the Open de France, is the first study site for this program. In 2018, it will also be the Ryder Cup, the third most publicized sporting event in the world.
